History

Built in 1965 and run by Walter Eugene "Gene" Davis (1930-1985), White Columns Funeral Chapel in Mableton was advertised as "the first fully planned funeral home facility in Cobb county" in the Marietta Daily Journal.

White Columns Funeral Home was Gene's dream come true.  All our married life in his spare time-which was scarce- he dreamed and drew models of his own funeral home that he might have one day.  Finally in 1965 with all we had saved and borrowed, his dreams were realized.  I continued to work for doctors in Atlanta and our three lovely children grew up in a brand new funeral home facility.  It was slow and hard, but the  community accepted us, appreciated the contemporary building, and supported us wonderfully.  Gene Davis Funeral Home was incorporated as White Columns Funeral Chapels in 1967.

Grateful to God and to the kind families who now are special friends, we enjoy the love and support we have felt through the years.
